Thanks for visiting the Big Dipper website! There's been so much happening I hardly know where to start. Big Dipper Helena opened in April and is in full swing. It's located in the Power Block downtown on the corner of 6th and Last Chance Gulch. Our remodel of the Missoula store was recently completed and turned out great. We added an extra window which serves as the "express" window on busy summer evenings. Cones and pre-packed ice cream are available at this window which helps the line move a little faster. Lastly we bought an ice cream truck which has been hitting the parks and various events this summer. Bryan Hickey our long time manager partnered up on this venture with us. The truck has been a huge hit and can be located by following it on Twitter or Facebook. Well Happy Summer! Keep checking back to find out what's new with Big Dipper.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thanks for a great year. We will be closed from Christmas Eve until the first part of January. Call us if you have an ice cream emergency and we'll see what we can do.

Busy busy at Big Dipper with all the attention over the Cold Smoke Ice Cream. We are working on more today so keep an eye on this site, Twitter or Facebook to know when it's back. It's a bit labor intensive and we have to rely on the Kettlehouse schedule so that is why we don't have it all the time. Aside from all the Cold Smoke hoopla, we are working with some folks in Helena to open a store. It should be open at 54 Last Chance Gulch by Valentines Day. Other big news is that we are planning a remodel this winter. Our store here in Missoula will be closed for a bit in order to get the construction done before Spring. If you are on Facebook, please become a fan of Big Dipper. A local high school kid created a fan page and it's really taken off. The page has been a great way for us to get flavor ideas, feedback and other ideas. We're hoping to have contests, polls and special offers through this page. Other than the craziness of Facebook, Big Dipper is busier than ever cranking out the ice cream. We're looking forward to a great summer with the best crew we've ever had. Meredith Turner has rounded out our management team in making things run real smoothly in the evenings and keeping the line moving along. Bryan Hickey our general manager has been with us for almost 10 years and makes sure the entire operation is running perfectly. We're currently churning out over 800 gallons of ice cream a week!
